Baby boy born in Riverside, California through gestational surrogacy — a successful single embryo transfer after the intended mother's recovery from severe OHSS, carried by an experienced fourth-time surrogate | Ivy Surrogacy

A Healthy Baby Boy Has Arrived in Riverside, California!

We are thrilled to announce the arrival of a beautiful baby boy, born on April 3, 2026, in Riverside, California! He arrived at 39 weeks and 2 days via vaginal delivery, weighing a healthy 7 pounds 5 ounces. Both the surrogate and baby are doing wonderfully, and the entire delivery went smoothly.

This birth marks yet another successful single embryo transfer — but the road that led here was anything but ordinary.

A Fright That Almost Ended the Dream

When the intended mother first reached out to Ivy Surrogacy, she didn't yet have embryos. She had previously undergone an egg retrieval cycle at another IVF clinic in the United States, and the experience had been nothing short of traumatic.

Following the stimulation and retrieval, she developed an extremely severe case of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). The pain was excruciating. She could barely walk — even getting to the bathroom was a struggle. Breathing became difficult, and lying down made it nearly impossible to breathe at all. She grew so weak that her consciousness began to fade. She was eventually rushed to the emergency room, where doctors discovered dangerously low blood pressure and she required a blood transfusion.

It was one of the most severe OHSS cases we had ever heard of, and understandably, it left a deep mark on her — both physically and emotionally.

Finding the Courage to Try Again

Despite the ordeal, the intended mother hadn't given up on her dream of having a baby. She wanted to do another egg retrieval to create embryos, but the fear of going through OHSS again was overwhelming. She asked us for our honest advice.

While severe OHSS at this level is quite rare, we recognized that every person's body responds to medication differently. It was clear to us that a conventional high-dose stimulation protocol was not the right fit for her. We recommended a U.S.-based reproductive endocrinologist who specializes in mini stimulation IVF — a gentler approach that uses lower doses of medication and significantly reduces the risk of OHSS.

The intended mother took our recommendation and scheduled her cycle at the new clinic. She was still deeply anxious — so much so that she looked up the nearest emergency room before even arriving for her appointment, just in case.

But this time, everything was different. After the retrieval, she experienced no OHSS symptoms whatsoever. Not even mild discomfort. She could hardly believe it herself.

And the results? Outstanding. Seven embryos were sent for PGT-A genetic screening, and four came back chromosomally normal — an excellent outcome that gave her multiple chances at a healthy pregnancy.

An Experienced Surrogate Who Made It Look Easy

With healthy embryos ready, it was time to find the right surrogate. She was matched with one of the most experienced gestational carriers we've had the privilege of working with — a surrogate who was embarking on her fourth surrogacy journey.

What makes her story truly remarkable is her incredible track record: all four of her surrogacy journeys resulted in a successful pregnancy from a single embryo transfer. Not once did she need a second transfer. And across all four pregnancies, she never experienced a single complication.

The pregnancy progressed beautifully from start to finish, and the baby arrived right on schedule — healthy, strong, and very much loved.

Congratulations to the New Parents!

This story is a powerful reminder that the path to parenthood isn't always straightforward, but with the right guidance, the right medical team, and the right surrogate, dreams do come true.

We are so grateful to our amazing surrogate for her incredible dedication — not just in this journey, but across all four of her surrogacy experiences. Her selflessness has helped four families welcome their children into the world.

And to the new parents — congratulations! Your perseverance through every challenge has led to this beautiful moment. We are so honored to have been part of your journey.
