On April 11, 2026, at a hospital in Walnut Creek, California, a beautiful baby girl entered the world — 37 weeks and 1 day, 6 lbs 12 oz, delivered vaginally, and met with tears that had been building for years. This is, without exaggeration, one of the most challenging cases Ivy Surrogacy has ever walked through. And it is also one of the most profound reminders of why we do this work.
A Journey That Tested Everyone
When these intended parents first began their surrogacy journey with Ivy, no one could have predicted how long the road ahead would be. They were matched with a wonderful gestational carrier and moved forward with confidence. Their embryos had been created using donor eggs and screened with PGT-A — every medical box had been checked. The first transfer used a single high-quality embryo. It didn't take. Heartbroken but hopeful, they tried a second transfer with the same carrier. Again, a negative result.
After careful discussion, the intended parents decided to re-match. Their second gestational carrier was equally committed, and together they attempted two more transfers. Both ended in disappointment.
Four transfers. Four losses. And still, no explanation that modern medicine could offer.
The Decision to Return
What happened next surprised everyone — and deeply moved our team. The intended parents asked to return to their very first gestational carrier. The bond they had built with her had never broken, and they trusted her completely. She welcomed them back without hesitation. Together, they attempted one more transfer.
It failed.
Trusting Instinct When Science Runs Quiet
At this point, the intended parents made a courageous decision. Despite the fact that their embryos had been created from donor eggs and had passed PGT-A screening, they trusted their instincts: something, they believed, was happening at the embryonic level that current technology simply could not detect. They chose to begin again with a new egg donor and create a fresh batch of embryos.
And once again, they turned to the gestational carrier they had come to love. She said yes.
The Transfer That Changed Everything
This time — finally, mercifully, joyfully — the transfer worked. A healthy pregnancy. A smooth progression. And on April 11, their baby girl arrived, safe and beautiful, at a perfect 6 lbs 12 oz.
Our Client Director, Kelli, flew to Walnut Creek over the weekend to be on the ground supporting both the surrogate and the intended parents through the delivery. Being present in those moments — not just on a call, not just on a screen — is what Ivy Surrogacy means when we talk about walking alongside our families.
To Our Incredible Surrogate
To the gestational carrier who stood by this family through three embryo transfers, countless moments of hope, and more heartbreak than most people will ever know: thank you. Your strength, your patience, and your generosity made this child's life possible. You believed when it would have been easier to walk away, and this family — and all of us at Ivy — will never forget it.
To the Intended Parents
Congratulations. You never stopped believing, never stopped advocating for your future child, and never stopped trusting the people around you. Your little girl is here because you refused to give up.
What This Case Taught Us
Surrogacy is not a straight line. Even with the best medicine, the best embryos, and the best intentions, the path can be long and painful. What matters is having a team that doesn't flinch — that keeps showing up, case after case, transfer after transfer, until the right story finds its ending. At Ivy Surrogacy, we don't just manage cases. We walk them. Together.
