Even if she agrees to continue, there is no guarantee that she will pass the necessary medical and psychological screenings. If the surrogate fails to qualify, the intended parents are left in a difficult position. They may have to wait an uncertain amount of time for a rematch with another surrogate, and the fees they’ve already paid are usually non-refundable.
This creates a situation where intended parents feel stuck with one agency, even if the process takes shorter than expected.
